Hire this man. We easily got out of our lease because he identified some outdated language that allowed us to break it early with no fees and no BS. Deposit returned on time. So pleased with the recommendation I received to consult with Michael Zink. After chatting with a different law firm in the same field of practice, it was a relief that Mike wanted to meet at the office in person (rather than just a phone lecture that I had had previously), and advised me on realistic time frames and expectations. His fees were lower than what I expected and his attitude was always positive. Michael was extremely responsive throughout the process, and I was rewarded with what I was due back from my landlord, plus some!

Received this firm's info from the tenants association after my landlord refused to return my deposit and trumped up some ridiculous charges in damage to the apartment I left in prestine condition. Michael Zink was just a phenomenal attorney and got my deposit back. I would never hesitate in recommending him to anyone.

I worked with Michael Zink while going through an issue where my landlord gave permission to sublease my apartment, but the building's condo association wouldn't allow it. Michael was very helpful and took as much time as was necessary to explain all my options, and make sure I fully understood everything. I'm happy to say my situation was quickly resolved, and the condo association backed down. After it was resolved, he even offered some great advice on how to arrange a contract when I sublease the apartment.

I didn't hire anyone but talked to Dave over the phone for consultation. He went over all the details and my option and was extremely helpful and did it for free. I really appreciate his help and if I hire an attorney for an eviction case I will definitely hire him. He was very knowledgeable and was a good listener too.

Starr and Rowells helped us break our lease legally and to get a settlement with our landlord. They were very professional and efficient and we never had any problems with them or their staff. Mr Zink helped is through the whole situation and was very friendly and helpful in the face of our somewhat panicked phone calls and appointments. I have read the other reviews and all I can say is that we experienced nothing like the 2 negative reviewers. 

I would definitely recommend them to anyone in that situation. Their rates are very reasonable and were even willing to work with us on the total coat of their legal fees.

Attorney Michael Zink provided brilliant representation for me against a landlord who had committed several violations of the Chicago tenant / landlord ordinance. His argument in support of my claims was very effective and the lawsuit was settled very favorably. The knowledge, experience and professionalism that he brings to a case is formidable and is an asset to any Chicago tenant who needs protection against an out-of-line landlord. His interpretation and explanation of the law helped me understand the pros and cons of each option he described and I felt confident putting my case in his hands. 

During the course of the case, which was about 4 months, Attorney Zink was always responsive to emailed questions or concerns. Communication throughout the process was complete and timely. The firm's rates are very reasonable for this kind of work. Because of their vast experience with tenant / landlord issues, the work is efficient and very focused.

Although I sought legal action as a tenant against a landlord, I have to say that my experience with Attorney Zink leads me to believe that he would represent a landlord with legitimate claims just as effectively. I did not get the impression that he, or this firm, would advise pursuing legal action for unfounded or weak claims if was not in the client's best interest.

All in all, working with Attorney Zink was a very positive experience and I highly recommend his representation in any tenant / landlord issue.

If I could give TEN stars, I would! I was served with a 5-Day Notice from my landlord and so I diligently researched Eviction lawyers on Yelp. I contacted several lawyers but I was most impressed by Starr, Bejgiert, Zink & Rowells. Mr. Starr was very informative on the phone and had a great demeanor, so I decided to hire him. However, he was going on vacation and he referred me to his colleague, Michael Zink.

At first, i was sad and hesitant that Mr. Starr couldn't represent me, but as soon as I met Michael Zink, I knew I was in good hands. He was very patient in explaining to me all of my options with the pros and cons. He carefully listened to my concerns and gave good advice. He was intelligent, articulate and poised, the way a respectable lawyer should be. I cannot say enough good things about him.

My landlord didn't serve me properly, the unit was illegal and I was behind rent. With all that in mind, we tried to settle our case. My landlord was greedy and stubborn and we had to go through the court system twice I had to pay SBZR twice as well, but it was worth every penny. Michael convinced my landlord's lawyer to settle the matter by educating her, lol. In the end, I decided to move out since the unit was not safe. I also decided not to countersue my landlord for the illegal unit and just count my blessings. After all, I did not have to pay the past due rent, was able to move out in a timely manner and my case was sealed.  

I should add that when Michael was busy in court, the receptionist and assistants were all very courteous and helpful. They were also quite knowledgeable. I highly recommend the firm of Starr, Bejgiert, Zink & Rowells.  

I wish Michael Zink could represent me in all of my legal matters, but since I do not want to go through another potential eviction, I will just write, "Thank you very much! I wish you and your firm continued success!"

I worked with Michael Zink. My landlord tried her best to keep my 1,400.00 security deposit after she said I damaged the apt. There was some water damage but that was because the landlord had 40 year old windows that leaked like crazy. I was hesitant to go the legal route but I am glad I did. 3 months later I have my deposit back and I think my ex landlord realizes she can't get others to pay for her home improvement needs.
